In 2025, Kuala Lumpur will serve as the epicenter of ASEAN activities, as Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship. This marks the fifth time Malaysia has chaired the association since its founding in 1967. The theme for Malaysia's chairmanship is "Inclusivity and Sustainability," reflecting the nation's commitment to fostering shared progress and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Throughout the year, Kuala Lumpur will host over 300 key meetings and programs, addressing pressing regional issues such as the South China Sea disputes and the ongoing civil unrest in Myanmar. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized the importance of digital transformation, renewable energy, tourism, and healthcare as focal points during Malaysia's tenure.

Kuala Lumpur's role as the center of ASEAN in 2025 underscores Malaysia's dedication to regional cooperation and its proactive approach to addressing both economic and geopolitical challenges within Southeast Asia.
